OSHA's New training rule for lift truck operators was finalized on
December 1, 1998. The employer shall ensure that their operators of
powered industrial trucks are trained, as appropriate, by the
following dates:
If the employee is hired before December 1, 1999 the initial
training and evaluation of that employee must be completed before
December 1, 1999.
If the employee is hired after December 1, 1999 the initial training
and evaluation of that employee must be completed before the
employee is assigned to operate a powered industrial truck.
